Energy that is overflowing, tender performance, graceful dances, moments of calmness or playful introductions: these are the major aspects of Pirin's style. The producer's main idea serves to underline the meaning of the separate scenes, the performance of the orchestra is marvelous, and those 300 costumes displayed on the stage are very beautiful, some of them carrying exceptional brilliance and splendor. This could be our summary for the spectacle of Bulgarian songs and dances, performed by the Pirin Folk Ensemble with a "ceaseless" tempo. Pirin really won the hearts of the big audience in the Rome theatre.

If it is true that the soul of a nation is to be found in its great folklore tradition, than we can say that the spirituality of Bulgaria was expressed through the overpowering songs and great dances performed by the Pirin State Ensemble in Foirfield Hall. The performance was an expression of a pure and authentic folklore art. It featured the participation of gifted musicians, singers, and dancers and bore the mark of exceptional talent and professionalism. Pirin's performance is based on various models coming from the traditions of different Bulgarian geographical regions.

This performance resembles a fire of emotions; it features a perfect line, and great technique.
Pravda, Moscow
The precision of performance of Prof. Ste-fanov's women choir and the kaleidoscopic effects of style suddenly lead us into a deep and somewhat restless interaction. This interaction opens the way to our faith. The performance of Pirin featured deep and slow melodies rising to unusually strong, well-balanced peaks or interrupted by sudden outbursts of voices. Pirin's songs also heighten our pleasure with their tender sound and the warm atmosphere they create. We can say that they ennoble the human spirituality.

It seems that the magical voices of Pirin don't belong to our world. They are unique! Where do these sounds, melodies, and harmony come from? This is the mystery of the Bulgarian voice. It is both amazing and wonderful.
The News Letter, Tokyo, 1994, Japan
The women choir of Pirin brought into another dimension the performance of the folk ensemble. The exotic techniques of the ensemble stirred the audience and had a mesmerizing effect on it. At moments the audience looked as if it had "tasted" chilly pepper. The Bulgarian culture presented to us by Pirin for the first time found many supporters admiring its burning style.
The Scroll, USA, 1991

The Arts and Humanities Council, USA, 1991
Pirin is an excellent folklore song and dance ensemble from Bulgaria. Four years after its debut in New York it came back to Carnegie Hall and delivered a performance of exceptional quality.
Similarly to the Bulgarian yogurt Pirin has its own characteristic aroma.
